Why did God tell Gideon to reduce his army so much?+
God wanted to make it clear that the victory over the Midianites came from His power, not from the strength of Israel's army. With just three hundred men defeating thousands of Midianites, everyone would know that only God could have made this possible. This also taught Gideon and Israel to trust God rather than rely on their own numbers and strength.
What was special about the way Gideon tested God with the fleece?+
Gideon asked God to do two opposite things with the fleece to prove His power and willingness to help. First, he asked for dew only on the fleece while the ground stayed dry. Then, he asked God to reverse it—keep the fleece dry while making the ground wet. God did both, showing Gideon that He was in complete control and would definitely help him win the battle.
How did Gideon defeat an entire army with just trumpets, jars, and torches?+
Gideon's three hundred men surrounded the Midianite camp at night. When they blew their trumpets and broke their jars to reveal the burning torches inside, the noise and sudden light confused and frightened the Midianites. In the chaos, the enemy soldiers began fighting each other, and many ran away. This shows how God can use creative strategies and small numbers to accomplish great victories when we trust Him.
