Frequently Asked Questions

What is the significance of the burning bush in Moses' story?+
The burning bush represents God's divine calling of Moses. The fact that it burned without being consumed symbolized God's eternal and imperishable nature. It was at the burning bush that God revealed His name (I AM) to Moses and commissioned him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. This event marks the beginning of Moses' transformation from a fugitive shepherd into a prophet and liberator.
Why was Moses not allowed to enter the Promised Land?+
Moses was prohibited from entering Canaan as judgment for his disobedience at Meribah (Numbers 20:12). When the people complained about lack of water, God instructed Moses to speak to the rock to bring forth water. Instead, Moses struck the rock twice in anger, taking credit for the miracle himself rather than honoring God. God saw this as a failure to trust Him and uphold His holiness before the people, resulting in this severe consequence.
How many plagues did God send upon Egypt before Pharaoh released the Israelites?+
God sent ten plagues upon Egypt to convince Pharaoh to release the Israelites from slavery. These plagues included water turning to blood, frogs, lice, flies, diseased livestock, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, and the death of the firstborn. Each plague was designed to demonstrate God's power and target the false gods of Egypt. Only after the tenth plague, the death of the firstborn, did Pharaoh finally allow the Israelites to leave.
