Luke's Gospel emphasizes that Jesus came for all people, not just the wealthy or powerful. The shepherds were humble workers, showing that Jesus's birth was good news for everyone. The angel's message of 'peace to those on whom his favor rests' shows God's love extends to all people, regardless of their position in society.

What does it mean that the baby Jesus was 'wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger'?+

Swaddling clothes were long strips of cloth used to wrap newborn babies to keep them warm and comfortable. A manger is a feeding box for animals.
